Jon Charles Baskerville |

Jon Charles Baskerville |
Jon Charles Baskerville
of Canada
It is with deep
sorrow and much love that we announce the passing of Jon Charles Baskerville, resident of London, Ontario, Canada, on April
16, 2022, at the age of 81 years.
Jon’s memory
will be held close in the hearts of his extended family: his wife Barbara; children Dan and Debbie; grandson Jacob; daughter-in-law
Kim; step-children Nora, Alissa, Anna, Michael, and Niki; step-grandchildren Sadie, Lucy, Elizabeth, Margaret, Callista, Marie
and Sheridan; and his brother David.
Jon grew up on a
dairy farm on Beebe Hill Road in Deposit. Growing up and working on the farm helped shape the person that Jon became.
Jon’s vocation as a statistician became apparent at a young age when he collected and analyzed data about which cows
won the race in from the fields at night. The farm held a very special place in Jon’s heart, and he visited it often
with Dan and Debbie, especially when his loving mother Laura was alive. After she passed, the family also enjoyed spending
time vacationing at a rental house on Oquaga Lake, which allowed Jon the opportunity to reminisce about his time operating
a taxi boat on the lake during his teenage years.
At Deposit High
School, he was a multi-sport athlete, acted in school plays, and was the Salutatorian of his senior class. His senior yearbook
page stated that he wanted to be a math teacher, and he carried through that goal. He earned a PhD in statistics from Cornell
University in Ithaca, NY, and ultimately moved to London, Ontario to teach at Western University. He subsequently spent a
number of years in private statistical consulting.
Jon was resilient
in the face of misfortune, and reinvented himself many times during his life. He endured a divorce and the deaths of two spouses,
and through those trials gained devoted and cherished children and grandchildren.
Jon held a deep
spiritual core. He was very proud to have opened one of the first Yoga studios in London ‘The Centre for Yoga and Health’
from 1986-1991 with his then wife Susan. Later in life he returned to his Methodist roots, and became an active member of
Colborne Street United Church, leading book studies, men’s groups, yoga classes and an annual Easter Prayer Vigil.
Singing and music
were a big part of Jon’s life and he had a wonderful baritone voice. He was an active member of the church choir, and
often performed solos. Barb and Jon formed not only a marriage, but also a performance duo; giving concerts at church events,
and nursing and retirement homes.
Jon was well known
to be kind, loving, gentle, compassionate, and giving. He had a sharp intelligence, a strong moral compass, and practiced
deep introspection. He wrote regular letters to the editor about issues that concerned him and advocated for those in need.
After his Alzheimer’s diagnosis, he wrote and spoke publicly about the disease to normalize the experience and spread
awareness.
He never lost his
great sense of humor and especially loved wordplay. He was a lifelong sports fan, and developed a passion for golf early in
life as a caddy at Scott’s resort in Deposit. With son Dan, he went to the Masters the year his favorite golfer at the
time, Mike Weir, won in 2003. When Barb retired, they played frequently together and he fulfilled his dream of attending all
four major golf tournaments.
At a later date,
a private family graveside ceremony will take place at Pine Grove Cemetery in Deposit, and a celebration of life will be held
in London, Ontario.

Theresa R. Brazie |
Theresa R. Brazie
of Deposit
Born on the 4th
of July, 1933, Theresa “Terry” Brazie, 89, of Deposit, NY, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Barnes
Kasson SNF in Susquehanna, PA.
She was predeceased
by her parents Joseph & Emma Stankus; devoted husband of 61 years, Cecil Brazie; brother Joseph, and sister Veronica Vann.
Terry is survived
by her children: Chuck and Michele Brazie; Dave and Dana Brazie; and Tim and Judy Brazie; grandchildren: Aaron Brazie, Jason
Brazie, Ariana Jessen, Krystin and Sioeli Fakalata, Matthew and Allie Brazie, Jayson and Kristen Brazie, Jordan Brazie, and
Savannah and Tamer Abdelaziz; great-grandchildren: Jubilee and Karina Jessen; Ryder, Mac, Poet, and Babu Fakalata; Ciandra,
Dominic, Phillip, Ethin, Julian; Isaac, and Owen Abdelaziz; great great- grandchildren: Zavier and Jaxx; and sister: Rita
Bronchella.
For many years,
Terry worked as a registered nurse at the Deposit Medical Center and frequently practiced those nursing skills on her three
boys who always seemed to need bandages and antibiotic ointment. As a tireless worker for the area hospice program, Terry
saw many families through difficult times. She was an EMT and volunteered with the Deposit Ambulance Squad until back injuries
would no longer permit her to participate.
During time “off
duty” Terry loved to pick blueberries. She diligently fed her birds—chickadees were her favorite—and enjoyed
watching them and the wildlife that routinely visited her yard. Once Terry even saw fit to yell at a bear that was eating
bird seed on her deck! She loved animals and was never without a cat and dog while in good health. As a dedicated member of
the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Deposit, she is well remembered for lighting candles and saying her rosary to get
through hard times. Faith was important to her.
Terry possessed
a number of memorable qualities. Many of the little things make us smile. She carried the equivalent of a travel bag with
her and tried to pass it off as a purse. Growing up during the depression had an impact. Never was she unprepared for a global
food crisis! So too, there was always a hidden “stash” of treats for the kids. If you ever received a letter
from her, it was no doubt covered in stickers and smiley faces. She made some of the best caramel corn known to mankind and
took endless Polaroid pictures of the kids—always including names and dates on each picture—then taping them to
the cabinets, refrigerator, and china hutch. Post-it notes were everywhere in her world as she filled her grandchildren’s
beds with beautifully hand crocheted afghans. They are a treasure. She is well remembered for taking walks with those grandkids
around the family sand bank, sending poteza bread at Christmas, and dabbling—not too successfully—in playing
the Baldwin organ. Terry was dearly loved and will be sorely missed by her family.
The family received
friends at the Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 78 Second St. Deposit on Monday, November 21 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian
Burial was held on Tuesday, November 22 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in Deposit.
Interment will be
in the St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Forest City, PA.

until his death. He previously held positions in the Priest Senate and Priest Personnel Board; proudly served as the Chaplain
of the Binghamton Fire Department and NYS Fire Chaplain; Chaplain at GBHC; Board of Directors GBHC; Board of Directors Catholic

Beverly Lloyd |

Beverly Lloyd |
Beverly Lloyd
of Deposit
Beverly Lloyd passed
away peacefully on July 27, 2022 after leading a long and courageous life. She faced many challenges in her 93 years, but
she met them all with spirit and determination.
Bev was born on
November 21, 1928, the youngest child of Horace and Edith (Barnes) Smith. Most of her early years were spent in Pennsylvania,
surrounded by a large and loving extended family. She enjoyed telling stories of growing up on the farm and always described
herself as a country girl. Bev learned a strong work ethic from those days and carried it throughout her life. The highest
praise she could give was to describe someone as a hard worker.
Bev loved school
and was very proud of her educational accomplishments. She was valedictorian of her eighth grade class in Jackson, PA and
went on to graduate from Union Endicott High School. She realized her goal of becoming a teacher after obtaining her BS degree
from Cortland State Teachers’ College.
After teaching Kindergarten
for two years in Norwich, NY, Bev moved to Deposit. She spent the rest of her career teaching Kindergarten and first grade
in the Deposit Central School system. Although she joked that she could never get any higher than the first grade, she taught
“the Three Rs” to hundreds of children before her well-earned retirement in 1984. She never stopped loving reading
and children. To the end she thought of herself as a teacher.
Bev met the love
of her life when she was introduced to Richard (Hap) Lloyd by a fellow teacher. They were married on August 16, 1953. Bev
and Hap spent 28 happy years together raising their family, snowmobiling in the winter, spending weekends at their Laurel
Lake cottage in the summer, and enjoying good times with their close friends, affectionately referred to as “the Gang”.
Bev was a true helpmate and partner, and she often assisted her husband in his many endeavors.
When Hap’s
life was tragically cut short in 1981, Bev was determined to stay busy. Her strong faith led to countless activities in the
Deposit Methodist Church; attending Bible studies, teaching Sunday School, and serving in many leadership positions in the
church and the United Methodist Women. She was an integral member of the church’s Craft Club and loved the days she
spent creating crafts for the church’s annual show and sale. Bev also volunteered at Deposit’s Closet and the
Deposit Elementary School. For many years she was President of the Oakwood Cemetery and faithfully recruited (some might say
badgered!) volunteers into coming every year for spring clean-up days. She loved reading, jigsaw puzzles, Jeopardy, and word
searches. Her grandchildren will always carry the memories of playing board games like Uno, Scrabble, Authors, and Uncle Wiggly
with their Grammie.
Bev was predeceased
by her parents, her husband, sister and brother-in-law: Bette and Dick Lillie, brother and sisters-in-law: Bill, Dorothy,
and Pauline Smith, and brother-in-law: Albert Lloyd. She missed them all greatly and will happily join them again in heaven.
Bev is survived
by daughter and son-in-law: Becky and Paul Hochuli; son and daughter-in-law: Bruce and Jane (Walker) Lloyd; grandchildren:
Josh Lloyd, Ben Lloyd, Beth and Rob Hesch, and Rick and Allison Hochuli, as well as her adored great-grandchildren: Abigail
and Michael Lloyd, Abigail and Ryan Hesch, and Caiden and Maizie Hochuli. She also leaves behind sister-in-law: Betty Lloyd
and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Bev treasured all
her family and friends. She kept Hallmark in business sending cards for all occasions.
Calling hours were
held on Saturday, July 30 from 3-6 p.m. at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 78 Second Street, Deposit, NY. A funeral service
to celebrate Bev’s life was held on Sunday, July 31 at 1 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Deposit. Interment
in Oakwood Cemetery will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the First United Methodist Church of Deposit, 109 Second Street,
Deposit, NY 13754. If you wish to honor Bev’s life, call, visit, or write to a senior citizen or someone who is lonely.
The joy you bring to them will be returned to you many times over.

Lilli Mapes |
Lilli Mapes
of Binghamton
Lilli Mapes, 68, of Binghamton, NY, passed
away unexpectedly on October 16, 2022 at her home. Waiting with open arms for her in Heaven are her father and mother, Raymond
and Josephine Mapes (Madugno), her brothers Raymond and Stephen Mapes, and her beloved cats Loki and Jack.
Left behind here on Earth until they
can meet again are her children, son Matthew (Barbara) Lindhorst of Arlington, WA, son Ian Lindhorst of Castle Creek, NY,
and daughter Kalyn (Matthew) Parkes of Endwell, NY. She dearly loved her five grandchildren, Hunter, Meghan, Avery, Isobel,
and Parker. Though distance and time kept her apart from some of them, they were always the ones she kept closest to her heart.
She is also survived by her brother Rick (Jan) Mapes of Deposit, NY; her sister Mona Mapes of Oliver Springs, TN; and her
sister-in-law Robin Mapes of Deposit, NY, along with her nieces and their families.
Lilli was born in Deposit, NY on April
22, 1954. She graduated Deposit High School in 1972. She went on to obtain her Associate Degree in Nursing at the former Wilson
Nursing School in 1977 and spent most of her life as a Registed Nurse, caring for moms and babies on Maternity at UHS Wilson
Medical Center. She was a devoted and excellent nurse and she made an impact on everyone’s lives she touched. She loved
her job and even after retirement, spoke often about it and how much she missed it and would go back to it if her health had
allowed.
If you knew Lilli, you probably encountered
her opinions a time or two, along with a great amount of stubbornness. She was strong in all her beliefs but she always put
her love of her family before them and wanted to make sure they knew that. She never wanted to be considered a cat lady, but
she undoubtedly was, sending pictures and repeating stories about her cats, before those of her grandchildren or kids. Those
came second. And third. She found unconditional love from her pets that she couldn’t always find in her difficult and
too short life. She would’ve lived in Maine if she could’ve convinced her whole family to move with her. She was
a proud Italian and her home cooking often reflected that. She hoped to visit Italy one day to explore the roots of her family.
As her grandson Avery has said, she is now a star in the sky looking down on us forever. As she would say, life is what happens
when you’re busy making plans. And she was right.
Her family will host calling hours at Barber
Memorial Home, 428 Main Street, Johnson City on Thursday, October 27 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. A private family burial will be
held in the spring at Oakwood Cemetery in Deposit where she can forever rest with her mother and father.

Thelma Mae (Beach ) Shedd
of Windsor
Thelma Mae (Beach ) Shedd of Windsor,
NY passed away on October 16, 2022 at the Albany Medical Center, Albany, NY. Thelma was born on February 16, 1942, the
oldest of ten children of Mahlon and Carolyn Betty Beach of Parker Hollow, Masonville, NY.
There is not a person on this earth who
was more determined to be self-sufficient than Thelma who spent most of her adult life as a paraplegic, the result of an earlier
automobile accident. Anyone who knew her understood how courageous, brave, fearless and strong she was as she endured countless
challenges surviving numerous hospitalizations and medical procedures through the years. With her loving husband Hank by her
side, she made a gratifying life for herself. She loved her country home with numerous houseplants and enjoyed having a small
vegetable garden in her yard. She loved cooking, baking and crocheting small things for everyone she knew.
Thelma had excellent secretarial skills
and worked for several different lawyers in the area as well as a short stint at Scintilla/Bendix in Sidney right after graduating
from Sidney High School in 1960. But music was her greatest passion, especially country, and she spent many years with her
band singing and playing at clubs and dances around the area. After becoming wheelchair-bound, she taught herself how to drive
using hand controls and was always going somewhere in her van.
She and Hank loved to go out to local
restaurants and loved to go visit and spend time with their kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She was especially proud
of their children’s accomplishments in life and adored their grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved writing
letters and sending people special birthday wishes and Christmas cards every year and kept in touch with many old friends
and classmates from school. She loved arranging and attending birthday parties and family get-togethers. Her thoughtfulness
and love will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Thelma is survived by her second husband:
Henry Shedd; her son: David Cordner; her daughter: Michelle (Alan) Jensen; her brothers and sisters: Bobbie (Dave) Owens,
Ed (Sheree) Beach, Russ Beach, Mahlon Jr. (Ellen) Beach, Dolly deVries, Ernie Beach, Marian (Stub) Ploutz, and Marty (Jennifer)

Melissa Bryce, Kevin (Jessica) Stever, Ben (Beth) Stever, and Anthony Jensen; several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews
and cousins.

Mahlon and Betty Beach, daughter: Nancy Katen, sons: Steven Cordner and Dennis Beach, brother: Nelson Beach, sister-in-law:
Cheyrl Beach, brother-in-law: John deVries, and most recently her Aunt Grace Fisher.

India was born in
Johnson City, NY, on Friday, September 13, 1990. She was a beautiful child, known for her free spirit, humor, and natural
ability to make all those who knew her better people than they were before they met her. She was a gifted colorist, but being
born into a family of creatives was a given. Her sense of color was nothing short of phenomenal. India enjoyed traveling
and took her first solo trip when she was 13 to Florida to visit her family. She was also blessed to be a Rotary exchange
student spending her time in Kecskemét, Hungary, where she learned to speak Hungarian fluently. India also traveled the entire
continent of Europe, including Greece. She held fond memories of her trips there. India had many great gifts, but the most
remarkable was her gift of empathy; India cared deeply about everything and everyone she came across in life. She was loved
so much by her many friends and family. She held a deep bond with her brothers and sister, who are now incomplete without
her. India was a magical being, and the light she emitted will never be dimmed.
The family received
friends at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 78 Second St., Deposit on Tuesday, November 8 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
