Debra Ellen (Sousa) Elwood
Debra Ellen (Sousa) Elwood, 63,
of Walton, NY went to be with her Lord and Savior, in the arms of her daughters and surrounded by loved ones on March 9, 2019.
Debby was born in Norwich, NY on
January 12, 1956 to Fredrick and Geraldine Sousa, Sr. currently of Oneonta, NY.
After graduating from Oneonta High
School, where she excelled in music, she received her Bachelor of Nursing from SUNY Canton. She then spent many years working at Fox Hospital and then Delaware Valley Hospital where she met and eventually married
Thomas Elwood on October 15, 1977. They spent their life on Oxbow Hollow Road where they raised and cherished their
three daughters.
Debby enjoyed spending time with
her family and their draft horses. Debby and Tom developed and managed the Wednesday
Night Olde Time Draft Horse Show at the Delaware County Fair for many years. She also never missed a sporting event whether
it was to watch one of her daughters play or to keep score for the girls' basketball teams. She also spent every fair week
helping her family show their 4-H animals. She became the 4-H Camp Shankitunk camp nurse several weeks each summer.
The happiest time of Debby’s
life was when she became a substitute teacher at Walton Central School District. While subbing there, she became “mom”
to so many students and she “adopted” and loved them like her own.
The one thing she always talked
about was how she couldn’t wait to be a grandmother. Her dream came true in 2004 with her first grandson. From then
on, she spent her days traveling between the homes of her three daughters staying with them and spending every minute she
could with her grandchildren. They lit up her life and kept her going.
She is survived by her daughters:
Anne (Andy) Lee of Center Lisle, Emily (Greg) Rudd of Rodman, and Stephanie (Brad) Canniff of Walton; her most prized possessions
her eight grandchildren: Jason, Paige, Breanna, Brook and Levi Lee, Abigail and Logan Rudd, and

In lieu of flowers, please feel
free to make a donation in honor of Debra Elwood to the Walton EMS for all their help over the years.

Rich was outgoing,
big hearted, and charismatic; his personality attracted everyone to him. Those who were lucky enough to call him a friend,
soon felt more like they were family. He was asked to be a groomsman in an uncountable
number of weddings and was the best man in many of them. He had many people who considered him their best friend, and his
heart was big enough to be that to all of them.
He spent most
of his childhood in the summit, riding bikes, playing cops and robbers, wiffle ball, riding downhill and having water gun
fights with his cousins, who were more like siblings. Sundays were spent at Grandma and Pooh’s for family dinner and
Baudendistel iced tea. Rich loved Halloween, from trick or treating to the annual hayride to costume parties; he always had
the best, most elaborate and realistic costumes.
His family meant
everything to him, he was a loving son. He enjoyed going out to eat and watched countless movies with his Mom as well as vacations
to Wildwood, NJ and Florida growing up. The Stanton family loved spending time with Rich as a fan at his many sporting events
or just relaxing watching movies and sharing laughs with him.
Rich graduated
from Deposit High School in Deposit, NY in 2003. He also graduated from Broome Community College with a degree in communications.
He loved sports and played many years of little league baseball, Hale Eddy football, legion baseball and varsity football
and baseball. He also acted in and produced countless semi-professional movies for school projects that became archives of
Deposit education. He had a special group of friends from childhood to high school and they continued their friendship today.
Rich spent many
mornings and afternoons on the golf course with his closest friends. He loved music, playing video games and watching movies.
His arsenal of movie quotes was unbelievable. His Arnold impression was also one of a kind. He was a Yankee fan and loved
the Philadelphia Eagles with a passion. Rich was always there to celebrate a birthday or a wedding, and always up for a good
time. He took great pride in his appearance and always had a fresh haircut and well-groomed beard. He loved “suiting
up” on random nights out. He also had many tattoos, and they told his story. Some were for his family and friends, and
some symbolic of him, with each one having deep meaning to him.

Carol Rosalie LeVan Thomas |
Carol Rosalie LeVan Thomas (1934-2019)
of Lewisburg
It is with sadness
and hope that we announce the passing of our mother, sister and friend Carol Rosalie LeVan Thomas on May 15. Carol was a woman
who accomplished much in her life, but most importantly was a source of warmth, comfort and encouragement to others. We deeply
miss her presence.
Carol was born
in Carbondale, Pennsylvania on June 9, 1934, daughter of Russell B and Rosalie (Farquhar) LeVan. She graduated from Benjamin
Franklin High School in 1952, after which she worked in administrative positions in Carbondale, eventually relocating to Long
Island and working in Manhattan.
On August 1, 1959
Carol married John J. Thomas in Jermyn, PA, later moving to Deposit, NY where they raised their five children: Michael
(Lynn), Martin (Janice), John Jr. (Linda), Melanie Shaw (Leon) and Andrea Barton (Mike).
During this busy
period of her life, Carol wrote prodigiously, authored four books and fulfilled a life-long ambition of completing her college
degree by earning a BA in English from Binghamton University.
Carol and John
relocated to Lewisburg PA in 2006, where she was involved in activities including The Daughters of the American Revolution,
the Lewisburg Garden Club, The Red Hat Society, The League of Women Voters, life-long
learning courses at Bucknell University, volunteer work at Evangelical Hospital and many informal clubs and gatherings.
After 50 years
of marriage, John pre-deceased Carol in 2009.
In addition to
her children, Carol is survived by her brother Roderick B LeVan; 12 grandchildren and a large circle of relatives and friends,
each one of whom she loved dearly.
Carol was a sensitive,
gentle, creative soul who maintained childlike wonder throughout her life. She cared deeply about relationships-providing
a sympathetic ear, encouragement and taking joy in the accomplishments of others. Together with her husband John, she welcomed
many people into her life, accepting and supporting them without judgment regardless
of their circumstances. To those of us whom she leaves behind we will be forever grateful for her influence as a mother and
a friend and are comforted that she rests in peace today.
In lieu of donations
the family requests prayers for unity of purpose in our world and communities. We encourage you to consider what brings us
together as a human family, rather than what divides us, and to support one another in this earthly journey.
To remember Carol’s life, you are welcome to a visitation with family and friends at the First Presbyterian
Church of Lewisburg from 11am to 1pm on Thursday, May 23, followed by a service in the church.

house was considered the most safe, comfortable, fun-filled, delicious meeting place for all her grandchildren, and this is
what she found most dear.
Bridget was a devout
Catholic her entire life and a cherished member of her church community. She unfailingly
