Gary Innes Amendola |

Gary
Innes Amendola
Gary Amendola
passed away Monday,
December 11, 2017 in Coeur d’Alene after a valiant battle with cancer. He was
67 years old. Gary was born on Long Island, NY and raised in the small village
of Deposit in upstate NY. He was the second born of five sons to Frank and
Audrey Amendola.
Gary was a renaissance
man - a
varsity letterman in football, wrestling, and track, honor roll student, active
in chorus, drama, student council president, and Eagle scout. He started a Teen
Center with best friend Terry. The center was dedicated to his brother Willet
(Ran) who was killed in Viet Nam in 1967. With that resume he attended the Air
Force Academy, graduated from the University of Colorado and studied abroad for
his last semester in Siena, Italy.
Post undergraduate
work found him in
Park City, Utah where he was a skier, carpenter and member of the infamous Mucker Rugby
Team. Two years of
that lifestyle convinced him to find gainful employment which led him to
Gonzaga Law School. Rugby was part of that curriculum as well. Upon
graduation and still full of wanderlust and adventure, Gary and classmate Ron
drove to Alaska. They worked in fisheries while studying for the bar. Probably
at the bar.
Gary’s
first job as an attorney was
at Babcock and Amendola in Sitka, Alaska. He excelled in his profession from
the start. On a visit to Sitka in 2014, a merchant recognized his name and
exclaimed how much he had helped them more than 30 years ago.
In 1982 Gary
moved to Juneau to
become Assistant Attorney General for the State of Alaska. One case took him
all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. (They won.) In 1984
Gary seized the opportunity to spend a year studying International Law at the
Australian National University in Canberra. Once again he balanced his studies
with rugby, golf and travel. Gary returned to his previous post at the Alaskan
Attorney General’s office, married, and became a devoted father to children
Joshua and Jessica.
In 1995 Gary
was hired, fired, and
re-hired as a Kootenai County Public Defender by John Adams who would become
his best friend until their last days together at the Schneidmiller Hospice
House. In 2001 Gary joined Walker Rines and Amendola where he rose to
managing partner of Amendola Doty and Brumley. Gary was past president of
the Idaho Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and one of the few Certified
Trial Specialists in the State of Idaho. From his outstanding professional
record and recognition from colleagues, he was chosen as a member of Super
Lawyers. Even more important are the countless testimonials from friends, and
clients benefitting from his “larger- than- life” heart and generosity from
tireless pro bono work.
Gary will be
greatly missed by his
family, friends, and legal colleagues who had the pleasure of his acquaintance
in the courtroom, the golf course, and his home. He was a member of the Eagles,
Sitka VFW, served on the board at Avondale Golf Course, and generous supporter
of Can Do MS. Truly he was a man of character and substance.
Gary is survived
by his college
sweetheart but wife of only four years Annie Amendola; son Joshua Amendola;
daughter Jessica Amendola-Ayles; son-in-law Ryan Ayles; father Frank Amendola;
brothers Scott, Jay, and Wayne Amendola; niece Ginny Walker; aunts, uncles, and
cousins. He was predeceased by his mother Audrey Amendola and brother Willet
Amendola.
A dedication
will take place at his
beloved Avondale Golf Course next spring. In lieu of flowers consider a
donation to Hospice House of North Idaho.

Kristie Rebecca
Clark, 37, of

after a snowmobile accident.
She was born
on April 11, 1980 in
Binghamton, NY, and grew up in Hancock, NY, with her parents, Ken and Karen and
her sisters, Kim, Kellie and Kourtnie. At very young ages the four girls could
be heard doing radio ads for Beaver Mountain Log Homes, the family business.
She was also a part of the Emory Methodist Church family in Hancock. Kristie
graduated from Hancock Central School in 1998. She then went on to attend SUNY
Morrisville to receive her Associates Degree in Equine Science in 2000. As an
avid member of the American Quarter Horse Association, she loved riding and
showing her beloved quarter horses. In addition to her equine science degree,
she also received a business degree from SUNY Broome.
After graduating
from Broome she
started working for Beaver Mountain as an administrative assistant. This led
her to Corning Inc. where she worked as an administrator. After a few years in
Corning she realized her heart was not in it and left to pursue a career
working with animals, her passion! Kristie then took a leap of faith and
adventured to Winter Park, Florida where she attended and graduated from the
Florida Institute of Animal Arts in 2012. She returned to Upstate New York and
jumped heart first into her passionate career as a pet groomer. This venture led
her to her current job with “At Your Service” in Endwell, NY, where she worked
closely with her very dear friends, Ellen and Corinne. She will be greatly
missed by all of her furry client friends.
As well as grooming
animals and
riding horses, Kristie also had a passion for other outdoor sports such as,
stand up paddle boarding, four wheeling, jet skiing and snowmobiling.
She truly was
a spark in everyone’s
lives, spreading light and laughter everywhere she went! She lived life to the
absolute fullest, enjoying every moment and embracing the small things!

Dale
L. Conklin, Sr.
Dale L. Conklin,
Sr., 69, of East
Branch passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Home after
escaping Delaware Valley Hospital earlier that day.
Dale was born
on January 25, 1948 in
Walton, NY the son of the late William and Helen (Wright) Conklin. He proudly
served his country in the U. S. Army during Vietnam, as a Medic. On October 2,
1982 he married Sandra Burdick in a Blue Jean Wedding, in Downsville, NY.
Dale worked as
a foreman for
Johnston Forest Products in East Branch for 36 years before it closed it doors
and he was forced to retire to his chair. He loved spending time with his
family especially backyard competitive croquet games, whiffle ball and family
bbq’s. He had a love for fast cars, tinkering and fixing just about anything.
Dale enjoyed playing pranks on his family such as wrapping up numerous boxes at
Christmas for them to open and find nothing inside or maybe you were the lucky
one to find rocks at the bottom. He loved keeping McDonalds in business by
eating there almost everyday of the week; having their famous cheeseburgers,
hash browns and diet Cokes.
Dale took pride
in maintaining his
yard and home. If you drove in his yard or threw cigarette butts or trash in
it, you’d be raking and leveling it until he was satisfied it was perfect. He
especially loved his “bad kitty” Izzy, his fat fluffy Patches and his 70 inch
TV that was always too loud for anyone to hear and have a normal conversation
around. “Why do you think we all yell when we talk?” Dale enjoyed watching
NASCAR, cheering on Dale Earnhardt #3 until February 18, 2001, then NASCAR
didn’t mean as much to him. He also loved rooting for the NY Yankees, the NY
Giants, watching The Rifleman, Westerns, Bonanza, and his
favorite, The Walking Dead.
“ Dad you
no longer have to whisper
about the evil nurses, you’re free, our undercover agent.”
“Stay strong,
stand your ground and
never give up.”
Dale is survived
by his loving
family, wife: Sandra Conklin; children: Lisa (Daniel) Koch, Sr. of Deposit, Amy
(Mark) Bass of Downsville, Dale (Melinda) Conklin, Jr. of Hancock, Stacy

James
George Decker Sr. (J.D.) Susquehanna, PA Dear Jim,
Well…today,
June 17, 2017 was the day we have dreaded for over a year and half.
Don’t worry about me or the kids Jamie (Anna), Jessica, Jeffrey (Amy),
we will be fine and I will continue to watch our grandsons Garrett’s,
Joel’s, and soon to be new baby Brantley’s sporting events and I can see
you up in heaven shaking your head as I scream and yell my head off. Do
me a favor and look up mom and dad, Steve and Lucille Klym, and ask
them to continue to watch over all of us. I’m sure your Dad Earl and Mom
Ethel will be there too, as well as your brothers Art and Clair. Your
sisters Ruth, Pauline, and Rosemary will be missing you as well. Jim
worked for the railroad for forty two and a half years starting with
the Erie, then Conrail, and then finally retiring from Norfolk South
Railroad on November 3, 2014. Jim was given the Harrisburg Division
Maintenance of Way Department for Exemplary Railroad Service in 2010. He
enjoyed going to the Legion a couple times a week and would bring home
all the gossip. Jim had a dry sense of humor but stay out of his way
when he was mad. Jim was never the “lovey-dovey” type, but showed his
love for his family in many different ways. The
kids and I will miss you every day for the rest of our lives and I will
love you forever. There will be no services per Jim’s request but a
memorial dinner was held on Saturday, June 24, at 6:00pm at the American

Brayden
Thoreau Doughty
Nov. 23, 2004 - May 3, 2017
Brayden Thoreau Doughty, cherished in life by family
and
friends all around, left this earthly realm to a place devoid of worries.
Words cannot express the loss of what his presence
meant to
us. Beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin. He loved to play games and
explore his world with great enthusiasm and never let obstacles interfere with
his many, many dreams. We are grieving, but in spirit, he is never leaving. His
voice echoes in our sweetest memories of him. His comic relief was a
blessing…and a comfort. Imagining now, he is aggravating his grandpa in heaven,
as he did here. And, although our hearts are broken, we know Brayden is making
all his dreams come true, with never-ending possibilities and without
boundaries. We love you Brayden!

Gary Gifford,
57, better known as,
Spook, of Endwell, NY, passed away on March 17, 2017 at Wilson Memorial
Hospital. He was born November 24, 1959 in Sidney, NY, was the son of the late
Dick Gifford and Audrey C. Eberhardt, and forever the “little brother” to Steve
Gifford and Denise Smith.
By age one, he
had a head of curly
hair, an impish grin, and the nickname “Spook” for his ability to disappear in
a blink of an eye. Gary graduated from Deposit Central School. He would then
embark on a lifetime of work, and work was his claim to fame. With full credit
always given to his mom and dad, Spook had a work ethic that made him stand out
on any crew, in any yard or on any union job. Gary’s first job was on the family
farm, then at Beaver Mountain Log Homes. He
worked in the stone quarry, the yard at MBI in California, and lastly, he gave
his all as a laborer for Alliance Masonry, Local #785.
In his younger
days, Spook played
outstanding high school basketball and continued afterwards in several
basketball leagues, where once again, his drive made him a standout. His other
passion was the racing world. He worked
with Kenny & Todd Titus #9, making many friends and acquaintances at area
dirt tracks. To the frustration and sadness of his brother-in-law, he was an
eternal New York Giants fan.

Joyce
Burlison Walley
Joyce Burlison
Walley completed her
earthly journey on January 16, 2017 in the company of Guerdon, her beloved
husband of 59 years. Joyce was born in Deposit, New York on March 21, 1937, the
daughter of Elizabeth and Edward Burlison. She was very proud of her Irish
heritage, being the granddaughter of Mary Lyons Murphy who arrived in the
United States from Ireland in 1896.
Joyce spent much
of her life in
Deposit, graduating from Deposit Central School and working secretarial jobs in
town and being active in the community. She was an active member of St.
Joseph’s Catholic Church. She also worked as a Surrogate Court Clerk for the
State of New York.
On June 28, 1958,
she married
Guerdon Frank Walley, Jr. In addition to her secretarial and clerking jobs, she
and her husband ran their dairy farm until retiring in the late 1990s. Upon
their retirement, they moved to Woolwich, Maine, where they were active members
of the community and maintained many close friendships. Weekly breakfasts at a
local restaurant allowed them to catch up with the happenings of their many
friends.
The special
joy of Joyce’s retirement was spending as much time as possible with her
children, grandchildren, and great-grandchild.
In addition to
her husband Guerdon,
Joyce leaves behind three daughters: Becky Walley and her husband Donald
Niehaus of Deposit, Kathy Jewett and her husband Ken of Portland, ME, and
Shelley Maggio and her husband Steve of Lenox, MA. Her six grandchildren
include: Elizabeth Polomcean (and her husband Justin), Melissa Walley-Niehaus,
Nathaniel Jewett (and his wife Becca), Ellen Jewett, David Maggio and Mike
Maggio. She also leaves a great-granddaughter, Autumn Ballard, who brought a
special sparkle to her great-grandmother’s eye.
There will be
no calling hours or
funeral. There will be a graveside service in Deposit in the spring. In lieu of
flowers, Joyce would want you to perform a random act of kindness or make a
donation to a charity of your choice.
