Robert M. Jenson, Sr.
of
Windsor
Robert
M. Jenson, Sr., 72, of Windsor, NY, passed away
on February 13, 2025.
It
is with great sadness that we announce the passing
of Robert “Bob” Jenson, Sr. He was born in Hancock, NY, in 1952 to Percy and
Shirley (née Gorr) Jenson.
Known
as “Bob the Barber” in the Windsor, NY,
community, he set up his shop in 1994. After graduating from Hancock High
School, he worked various jobs, from digging graves by hand in Hancock Cemetery
to working at Endicott Johnson and Daniels Paint Store. After moving to
Deposit, NY, in 1977, he took a job at Celotex, and after the plant’s closure,
he transitioned into car sales. He sold cars for Buteau’s and Gerow’s in
Deposit, NY, supplying most of the families in town with a vehicle.
Throughout
every job he held, he always dreamed of
opening his own barber shop. In 1993, he left the sales world, attended barber
school, and then set up shop in Windsor. He retired in 2019 after 25 years of
endless haircuts and countless stories. He never had a phone in the shop, never
scheduled appointments, and yet never had an empty chair. He remembered
everyone’s name, the stories of their lives, their children’s names,
anniversaries, birthdays, and important events, making the time in the chair pass
quickly with conversation. Until his final days, he reminisced about events in
his friends’ lives, remembering names and important dates.
He
was a founding member of the “Homeward Bound Band”
based in Deposit, playing thousands of gigs throughout New York State. He loved
fishing, watching wildlife from his back porch, and spending time with friends.
He
was predeceased by his wife of almost 30 years,
Bonnie Jenson (née Pomeroy); his father, Percy Jenson of Hancock; and his
sister, Janet Jenson of Florida.
He
is survived by his mother: Shirley Jenson; sisters:

leaves behind five grandchildren: Robert “Taylor,” Katee, Amelia, Alec, and
Makayla, along with many cousins and close friends.
A
memorial and celebration of life will be held on
April 12 from noon to 5 p.m. at The Coach House, 98 Main Street, Windsor NY
13865. All are welcome!
Arrangements

a good book. She embraced life fully, sharing her heart generously, and finding beauty in the everyday.
A gifted artist at heart, MaryAnn’s creativity knew no bounds. Whether she was crafting intricate miniatures for
her beloved dollhouses, arranging flowers with an expert’s touch, decorating with an eye for elegance, or knitting warmth
and love into every stitch, her creations were a true reflection of her passion and attention to beauty. She found joy in
filling scrapbook pages with treasured memories, ensuring that every detail she touched became something special and meaningful.
MaryAnn’s love extended far beyond her artistry; it was deeply rooted in family. Fiercely devoted, she treasured
every moment spent with her grandchildren, delighting in their laughter and milestones. Summers at the lake were especially
magical, where she hosted Camp Grandma, filling their days with adventure, creativity, meeting new friends, and endless fun.
She also shared her love of reading with them, curling up with books that sparked their imaginations and built lifelong memories.
Her love extended to her many four-legged companions, whose presence brought her joy throughout her life.
Honoring MaryAnn’s wishes, there will be no formal services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her
memory to the Broome County Humane Society, an organization dear to her heart.
